Tren Maya ticket sales resume through new government website

A new website has been launched for the purchase of Tren Maya tickets, following a weekend suspension of e-Ticket sales. The Government of Mexico has opened its own site to allow train passengers to purchase tickets for operating routes. The suspension occurred during the same weekend as a mechanical failure, which left dozens late reaching Cancun. However, the new system allows ticket sales for travel from Palenque, Chiapas through to Cancin, Quintana Roo. Tickets can be purchased through the ticket platform, but the Mayan Train continues selling tickets through its own platform. Ticket prices for the complete route for tourist and premier categories are 2,123 and 3,391 pesos, respectively.

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — A new website has been announced for the purchase of Tren Maya tickets. After a weekend suspension of e-Ticket sales, the Government of Mexico has opened its own site where train passengers can buy tickets for operating routes.
E-ticket purchases were suspended for four days. The suspension happened on the same weekend as a mechanical failure. Tren Maya authorities have not commented on that incident that left dozens late reaching the city of Cancun.
However, the launch of a new purchasing system to buy Tren Maya tickets has been announced by Sedena.
“Tren Maya informs national and foreign tourists, as well as the local population, that the sale of tickets continues without incident through the page, although the sale through the e-ticket platform was suspended, the Mayan Train continues selling tickets, but now through its own platform.”
Train passengers can continue to purchase tickets for travel from Palenque, Chiapas through to Cancun, Quintana Roo. Seat and payment selections are available on the new online system.
Ticket prices for the complete route for tourist and premier categories are 2,123 and 3,391 pesos, respectively. Discounts are offered with local identification and can be purchased in person at Tren Maya station kiosks.
