His arrest was made following a report of a robbery taking place inside a Fifth Avenue store. The Seguridad Ciudadana Solidaridad (SSC) reported that he was found in possession of several items, including jewelry, which were deemed stolen at the time he was taken into custody. The arrest took place from a shop on Fifth Avenue in the Zazil-Ha area of central Playa Del Carmen. The State Attorney General's Office is investigating the case.

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — An American man remains jailed in Playa del Carmen after allegedly robbing a closed business. His arrest was made after the report of a robbery in progress inside a Fifth Avenue store.
On Monday, the SSC (Seguridad Ciudadana Solidaridad) reported on thwarting the robbery and arresting one male from the scene. Taken into custody was 65-year-old American Jefrey “N”.
According to the SSC, he was found in possession of numerous items including jewelry deemed stolen at the time he was inspected and taken into police custody.
His arrest was made from a shop on Fifth Avenue in the Zazil-Ha area of central Playa del Carmen by Municipal Tourist Police.
“The Solidaridad Municipal Police thwarted a possible robbery in progress in an establishment and arrested one person,” the SSC reported Monday.
“After realizing that a subject was stealing several items from a closed business on Fifth Avenue in the Zazil-Ha neighborhood, Tourist Police officers stopped him. He identified himself as Jefrey “N”, 65 years old originally from the United States.
“During a security inspection, chains, rings, bracelets and other items possibly stolen from the place,” was found, they reported.
“He was subsequently placed at the disposal of the State Attorney General’s Office where the corresponding investigations will be carried out.”
