She was found by Cancuna police after citizen reports of her poor health. The woman, who was found with socks and no shoes, told officers she was staying with friends when she got scared and jumped out of a window. Medical personnel from Escuadrón de Rescate y Urgencias Médicas (ERUM) transferred her to the General Hospital for medical treatment. She is believed to have a mental health condition and is being treated for her care. The unidentified woman is from the U.S. state of Oregon and was vacationing in Cancin with friends.

Cancun, Q.R. — An American woman found wandering the streets of Cancun was taken to hospital Tuesday morning. The 35-year-old was located wandering the streets of SM 248 around 11:00 a.m. after citizen reports of her poor health condition.

She was found sitting on a sidewalk with socks and no shoes by responding Cancun police officers. After speaking with her, they learned that she she was staying in an apartment with friends when she “got scared” and jumped out of a window.

The young woman was seen hobbling due to a sprained ankle. Police did not say how long she had been wandering city streets, but did say when they found her she showed signs of malnutrition and dehydration along with a sprained left ankle.

Medical personnel from Escuadrón de Rescate y Urgencias Médicas (ERUM) evaluated the woman before transferring her to the General Hospital. In a statement, the SSC Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana) explained finding the young American woman.

“The Secretariat of Citizen Security of Quintana Roo reports the Rescue and Medical Emergencies Squadron (ERUM) of the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Quintana Roo provided assistance to a 35-year-old woman who was wandering in Supermanzana 248 of Cancun presenting a condition of dehydration and malnutrition in addition to having a sprained left ankle.

“After first aid, personnel assessed her. She was transferred to the General Hospital to continue her medical care.

“The female said that she was with some friends in an apartment, however, she got scared and decided to get out of there by jumping out of a window. According to the doctors’ diagnosis, the woman has a mental health condition.

“The corresponding authorities are contacting her family for her care.”

The woman is reported to be from the U.S. state of Oregon and was vacationing in Cancun with friends. She arrived over the weekend and was staying in an apartment in the Villas del Mar subdivision at the time of the incident.
