Amid its supposed nightlife decline, new businesses look to revive Mill Avenue - United States
New businesses fill vacancies and new owners introduce new concepts as the area evolves in a different direction. New businesses are emerging to revitalize Mill Avenue, a popular nightlife district known for its live music, restaurants, entertainment and bars. ASU alum Julian Wright, who opened his first establishment at Jax Thai Bar in 2000, described the area as a "robust" live music scene with bands like The Gin Blossoms and The Refreshments. Despite some believing that the area is losing its cultural significance, officials believe there will be more growth down the road. The city's $40 million downtown refresh project has allowed several businesses to take over vacant spaces. One of the new businesses is Level 1 Arcade Bar, inspired by Tulum and Playa del Carmen in Mexico, which will feature indoor and outdoor palapas, tropical plants and vintage surfboards.
