American Airlines adding nonstop flights from DFW to Tulum, Mexico in late March

American Airlines is adding two nonstop daily flights to Tulum, Mexico out of DFW Airport. American Airlines is adding two daily, year-round nonstop flights from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW International Airport) to Tulum, Mexico starting on March 28. The airline will operate from DFW, Miami International Airport and Charlotte Douglas International Airport, all on Boeing 737 aircraft. The expansion comes after American announced it will offer 56 international destinations out of DFW Airport this winter, 20% more seats than the previous year. This move comes as American reduces its routes at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to maintain service levels to all eight hubs.

American Airlines will add on two daily, year-round nonstop flights from North Texas to Tulum, Mexico beginning on March 28.

American will offer daily nonstop flights to Tulum Airport from not only DFW International Airport, but also Miami International Airport and Charlotte Douglas International Airport, all on Boeing 737 aircraft. Miami and Charlotte will each operate one daily flight to Tulum.

“As Dallas-Fort Worth’s hometown airline, we are thrilled to create more connectivity across the globe and bring more vacation options to our valued customers,” said Jim Moses, American’s senior vice president of DFW hub operations in a release. “Building on our international growth this winter, we are thrilled to continue expanding direct service from DFW to popular destinations our customers want to travel to.”

Tulum is known for sandy beaches and the Tulum Mayan Ruins on the Yucatán Peninsula, located about a one-hour drive south of Playa del Carmen and 25 minutes south of Akumal. As travelers return to pre-pandemic travel patterns, American has honed in on prime travel destinations that travelers may have missed during the pandemic restrictions.

Next summer, American is adding more flights out of DFW Airport with two daily flights to Guatemala City, Guatemala and San Jose, Costa Rica. The new flights will begin June 5.

The expanded service comes after American said it will offer 56 international destinations out of DFW Airport this winter, about 20% more seats than it had last winter.

This week, American cut back on 21 routes at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. The Fort Worth-based carrier will maintain service levels to all eight hubs with nonstop flights from Austin.
